Bombardier CRJ200 Type Rating

The Bombardier CRJ200 type rating is available from many providers worldwide. The main Bombardier CRJ200 type rating provider is Bombardier. Bombardier has a CRJ200 type rating course available from its Bombardier Aircraft Training division. Another major Bombardier CRJ200 type rating provider is FlightSafety International which offers CRJ200 type rating initial and recurrent courses. Most airlines will provide a Bombardier CRJ200 type rating course to you at no charge if you are hired to fly the CRJ200, however some airlines may ask you to sign an training agreement stating that you must stay with the airline for a certain amount of time or you will have to pay for the training.

Bombardier CRJ200 Type Rating Requirements and Information:
In the United States the Bombardier CRJ200 is classified as the CL-65 type rating on pilot certificates, by the FAA. The CL-65 type rating will also allow you to fly the CRJ700, CRJ705 and CRJ900 (CRJ1000 is a different type rating "CL-66") with only a systems differences course from an approved provider. Also note that the type rating from the FAA is the same for all CRJ series aircraft.  For example if you got the CL-65 type rating by training with the CRJ900, you could fly the CRJ200 by completing a minor differences course.

The training required to obtain the Bombardier CRJ200 type rating from the FAA is to follow 14 CFR part 121.419 and/or SFAR 58 (AQP) requirements for the aircraft. A Bombardier CRJ200 type rating (CL-65) will allow you to meet the requirements of the Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) license. By obtaining a CRJ200 type rating you will usually meet the training/testing requirements of the ATP license and you can be awarded one after obtaining the CRJ200 type rating.
