Boeing Recently Gained Production Approval for the 787-9 in South Carolina.

Boeing has delivered the first South Carolina built 787-9 jet to United Airlines. Boeing's second 787 production facility is located in North Charleston, South Carolina USA. This marks an important part of Boeing South Carolina's history with the 787 program. Assembly of the Boeing 787-9 started in South Carolina in November 2014. In 2013 the South Carolina facility also built aft and mid fuselage sections for delivery to Everett facility in Washington, for the 787-9. The first aircraft exited the assembly line in January 2015 and was flight test until it was delivered to United Airlines on March 17th, 2015. United now has 4 Boeing 787-9 jets and 12 Boeing 787-8 jets in service.
