HondaJet Still in Waiting for Certification From the FAA.

March 17th, 2015

Honda Aero, Inc, the manufacturer of the HF120 engine for the HondaJet, has received their production certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the HF120 turbofan engine. The certificate was issued by the FAA under part 21. Production of the engines originally took place at General Electric's (GE) Lynn, Massachusetts facility under the GE Honda Aero Engines joint venture. Honda Aero started assembly of the engine under the type certificate for the engine at the end of 2014 with oversight by the FAA. With this production certificate Honda Aero, Inc will now be able to produce the engines without full oversight at their Burlington, North Carolina facility. Honda Aero is focused on parts, assembly and testing of the engines. GE Honda Aero Engines is only a joint venture in which GE and Honda work together to design and build jet engines.

With this production certificate secured, certification of the HondaJet should be moving forward.
